Traveling along the Spanish northern coastline is a stunning experience. On your left hand, you have the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Biscayne. On your right hand, you will have a fantastic view of the mountains. Making in one day is too fast. We would like to return for a slower journey.
We made a short detour to Lunanco which historically was an important fishing and whaling port. Currently, Luanco is a relevant tourist point in norther Spain, well known by its historic buildings (Santa María church, the Torre del Reloj or the Palace of Menéndez Pola), the beaches of Santa María and La Ribera and gastronomy as well. However, we found that they missed the gastronomic part of it on this day.
We decided to spend the night in Irun at an Ibis hotel. Easy access and you know what to expect.
